The plans for our Class of 1969 40th reunion are now in place.  We are excited to announce the details of an entire weekend of events beginning Friday, October 30th running through Sunday November 1st.

Our Homecoming Event in 2005 was such a success that we have elected to follow a similar format and give you a number of opportunities to spend time with your classmates.  Here are the details.

We have had several classmates who are coming into town on Thursday and requested a place to get together.  We will be meeting Thursday, October 22nd from 5pm until ? at Yolanda's Mexican food restaurant.  They are located at 86 E Daily Dr, Camarillo, CA‎ - (805) 389-9922‎.

Our 40th reunion will begin with a no-host lunch on Friday, October 30th at El Tecolote Mexican Restaurant 12pm until 6pm.  We have invited 20 teachers from grade school, Los Altos to High School to join us at El Tecolote. The restaurant has opened its doors for us to eat, hang out, and spend several hours together.  That Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Camarillo High School will be hosting its  Football Game at the newly remodeled James  Ackerman Stadium.  We will attend the game together and have a chance to watch the football game.  This will be a great blast from the past. We’ll close the evening at J.J. Brusky’s Restaurant and bar, one of the new watering holes on Ventura Boulevard.

On Saturday, October 31st, we are organizing a trip to Camarillo High School. We will be having lunch on the Senior Patio to bring back some old memories and then walk around the school.  Do a drive through of your favorite fast food restaurant or grab a sandwich and join us from noon until ?.

On Saturday night, October 31st we will all be together for an evening of great food, music, and conversation at the Aloha Steak House.  This causal but up-scale restaurant is less than a minute’s drive from the High School and has quickly become one of the area’s favorite places to eat and relax.  The restaurant has welcomed us to spend the evening in their spacious banquet room and open patio; a perfect venue for a nostalgic evening together.  We will be ordering our meals and drinks from the restaurant menu, so reservations are encouraged.

On Sunday morning at 11am we will meet at the Pierpont Inn Restaurant in Ventura for a leisurely brunch and a chance to say goodbye to everyone for another few years. The cost is $19.95 per person.

Our hope is that you will contact your friends from the class of 1969 and make plans to spend the weekend together.  We will be publishing a list of local hotels with reduced rates and are encouraging local classmates to open their homes to their friends for the weekend.

Many from the classes of 1968, 1969, and 1970 have expressed an interest in attending these events.  We welcome the chance to include them in the fun.  Please have them contact us so that we can give them the details of the weekend.

Mark your calendars and contact us today to let us know if you will be spending the weekend with us.

Best regards, your reunion committee. Contact John Spohn at spohnj@aol.com or call Joe Rice at (805) 386-3087.

In order to make this the best it can be for YOU it's suggested you attend all 3 days.  Previously we had classmates come to only one day and they were disappointed they didn't see their special classmate.  As it turns out they both came but on different days so it's highly recommend you plan on attending all 3 days.  We understand if you can't make all three days yet this is promising to be the best attended reunion yet by all the responses.

Every ten years, as summertime nears,
An announcement arrives in the mail,
A reunion is planned; it'll be really grand;
Make plans to attend without fail.

I'll never forget the first time we met;
We tried so hard to impress.
We drove fancy cars, smoked big cigars,
And wore our most elegant dress.

It was quite an affair; the whole class was there.
It was held at a fancy hotel.
We wined, and we dined, and we acted refined,
And everyone thought it was swell.

The men all conversed about who had been first
To achieve great fortune and fame.
Meanwhile, their spouses described their fine houses
And how beautiful their children became.

The homecoming queen, who once had been lean,
Now weighed in at one-ninety-six.
The jocks who were there had all lost their hair,
And the cheerleaders could no longer do kicks.

No one had heard about the class nerd
Who'd guided a spacecraft to the moon;
Or poor little Jane, who's always been plain;
She married a shipping tycoon.

The boy we'd decreed 'most apt to succeed'
Was serving ten years in the pen,
While the one voted 'least' now was a priest;
Just shows you can be wrong now and then.

They awarded a prize to one of the guys
Who seemed to have aged the least.
Another was given to the grad who had driven
The farthest to attend the feast.

They took a class picture, a curious mixture
Of beehives, crew cuts and wide ties.
Tall, short, or skinny, the style was the mini;
You never saw so many thighs.

At our next get-together, no one cared whether
They impressed their classmates or not.
The mood was informal, a whole lot more normal;
By this time we'd all gone to pot.

It was held out-of-doors, at the lake shores;
We ate hamburgers, coleslaw, and beans.
Then most of us lay around in the shade,
In our comfortable T-shirts and jeans.

By the fiftieth year, it was abundantly clear,
We were definitely over the hill.
Those who weren't dead had to crawl out of bed,
And be home in time for their pill.

And now I can't wait; they've set the date;
Our 55th is coming, I'm told.
It should be a ball, they've rented a hall
At the Shady Rest Home for the old.

Repairs have been made on my hearing aid;
My pacemaker's been turned up on high.
My wheelchair is oiled, and my teeth have been boiled;
And I've bought a new wig and glass eye.

I'm feeling quite hearty, and I'm ready to party
I'm gonna dance 'til dawn's early light.
It'll be lots of fun; But I just hope that there's one
Other person who can make it that night.

High school reunions

enable us to look at the past,

reflect on the fun we once had,

and make us wonder, as the years have scurried by,

why we didn't keep in touch

with all our high school "pals".

make us question, why we lost touch

with people who once were our dearest friends.

We are curious how their lives unfolded

and wonder where life took them.

High school reunions

tap into our "inner child", for a few hours,

as we are taken back to a time, when life was carefree and fun

and transforms us to that teenager, who

didn't worry about the future,

and didn't know what was yet to come!

Seeing people from the past, that we once saw every day,

brings back that special bond

of those that shared experiences that link us together.

High school reunions...

allow me to go back in time,

to relive my history as time moves forward,

and we all get older!

No matter how many of them you go to,

you always envision how people looked

when you saw them every day, during high school

the best time of your life...

the days that you will always remember...

that started you on the road

of who you have become!

Observations on Growing Older ---
~It's harder to tell navy from black!
~Everything old is new again, but if you wore it before, you're too old to wear it the 2nd time around!
~Yellow becomes the big color...walls...hair...teeth!
~Going out is good. Coming home is better!
~When people say you look "Great"...they add "for your age"!
~When you needed the discount you paid full price. Now you get discounts on everything...movies, hotels ....flights.
~You forget names...but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you.
~You ask your husband or friend how your outfit looks and they tell you the truth!
~The five pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything...especially golf.
~Your husband is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.
~The things you cared to do,you don't care to do,but you care that you don't care to do them anymore.
~Your husband sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he does in bed. It's called his "pre-sleep"
~Remember when your mother said "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!
~You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married.. Now, " I hope they STAY married!"
~The best place to have a conversation with your husband is in the bathroom...you have his full attention.
`Who wants to wear 3" heels anyway?
`You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.
~When GOOGLE.ipod.email.modem .were unheard of and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table.
~You use more 4 letter words..."what?"..."when?" ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~Your husband has a night out with the guys but he's home by 9:00 P.M...next week it will be 8:30 P.M.~
You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.before
You start to notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?
~Many of the people in People Magazine you've never heard of.
~Your concealer doesn't conceal.
~Everybody whispers.
`You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet....2 of which you will ne
ver wear.
~~~~But old is good in some things:...old songs...old movies
And best of all OLD FRIENDS
